A Sydney condiments producer has met supply chain requirements by delivering shelf-ready trays with barcode continuously printed on the shrinkwrap.
Without lifting, dropping, or pausing, an SMI system brings the trays up to merge and form around the jars for gentle flow at high speeds. In the same continuous motion, trayed jars are then shrinkwrapped with pre-printed film, ready for palletising.
The barcode can be read from any direction. Thanks to the simplicity of the SMI system, the tray and shrink line was installed in less than 4 days.
It will be used for a wide range of products, containers and sizes, all quickly reconfigured under software control.
